About cuboidal.org
Various uninteresting things about this web site.
Who?
Me.
Why?
It was about time to grow up and get a web site. And it is a pretty cheap way to spread lies, disinformation and untruths (are they all the same thing?).
Honestly, I'd been meaning to put together a site for years. Recently I realised that in order to be in "the business" (whatever that means) it is necessary to have a site. It seems that the blog has become the online resume of sorts, without the educational details. I really don't consider this a blog; I think of it more as an old-school web site with updated navigation and presentation.
How?
While I enjoy reading the gory technical details of web site production that that other people use, I don't think it is worth describing this site.
This site is build with Ruby on Rails. It works, mostly.
The typo in the previous paragraph has been there for about 3 years. It annoyed me so much I decided to leave it in as a lesson in humility.
What?
Not much.
The best bit?
There isn't one, although I like the page about rotten apple cores.
Rights and licensing
Unless specifically noted, all content that isn't software (basically the text, style and images) is available under the "By Attribution, Non-Commercial, Share-Alike" Creative Commons License. The general theme is that you can copy the stuff but can't try to make money from it unless you ask first.
Software (and that includes the ECMA Script code) is available under a W3C software license in two forms: either the copyright is owned by W3C or by cuboidal.org (which means me). You can choose whichever you want. Of course, if the source to the software includes a different license (say, it isn't our software or we want to sell something), then the including license applies.
This whole thing is up for negotiation. I want to share. If the terms above stop you from doing something you'd like to do, let me know why.
